How ShelfWise stores and handles your data
What ShelfWise Is
ShelfWise is a free companion tool for the game Megastore Simulator. It helps you track products, set pricing, and plan your store layout. ShelfWise is not affiliated with the game developer.
No Tracking, No Ads, No Cookies
ShelfWise does not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind. There are no cookies. We do not collect, sell, or share any personal information. We have no idea who you are, and we like it that way.
Data Stored in Your Browser
When you use ShelfWise, your settings are saved in your browser's local storage. This includes:
- Which products you've marked as owned
- Your markup percentages and pricing overrides
- Your store planner layouts and product assignments
- Your display preferences (column visibility, theme choice)
This data never leaves your browser unless you choose to enable Cloud Save. It is stored only on your device, in your browser. If you clear your browser data, switch to a different browser, or use a different computer, this data will be gone.
Cloud Save (Optional)
If you choose to enable Cloud Save, your settings are backed up to a secure online location so you can access them from any device. Here's how it works:
- You choose to turn it on — Cloud Save is completely optional. Nothing is uploaded unless you click "Enable Cloud Save."
- What is saved — The same settings listed above (owned products, markups, planner layouts). No personal information like your name, email, or account details is ever collected.
- Where it is saved — Your data is stored in a private file on GitHub (called a "Gist") through a Cloudflare Worker that acts as a secure go-between. Both are well-known, trusted services.
- Your Save Code — When you enable Cloud Save, you receive a Save Code (like SW-A3F8-K2M1). This code is the only way to restore your data on a new browser or device. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe.
- Keep your code private — Anyone who has your Save Code can load and change your data. Do not post it publicly or share it with people you don't trust.
- Automatic saving — Once enabled, your data is automatically saved a few seconds after you make changes. You don't need to do anything.
How to Delete Your Data
Browser data: Open your browser settings and clear site data for this website, or clear all browsing data. This removes everything ShelfWise has stored locally.
Cloud save data: There is currently no self-service way to delete a cloud save. If you'd like your cloud data removed, please contact us (see below). If you simply stop using your Save Code, the data sits unused but is not shared with anyone.
Third-Party Services
ShelfWise uses the following external services to function:
- Google Sheets — Product data (prices, categories, etc.) is loaded from a public Google Sheets spreadsheet. Google may log that a request was made, but no personal information is sent.
- Google Fonts — Fonts are loaded from Google's font service. Google's privacy policy applies to this.
- Cloudflare Pages — The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may collect basic access logs (IP address, page visited). See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Cloudflare Workers + GitHub Gist — Used only for Cloud Save. See GitHub's privacy statement.
- Tabler Icons — Icon font loaded from jsDelivr CDN.
